Fantasy Island Schools for Kids is a private, state-licensed kindergarten in Norwood Park where small classes and certified teachers give your five- or six-year-old real attention, for families across Chicago’s Northwest Side and nearby suburbs.
Many Chicago families look at both paths side by side, and the two work differently. CPS kindergarten applications go through GoCPS, the district’s online system at go.cps.edu. Dates, eligibility, and steps can change each year, so check the current details there rather than relying on what a neighbor did last year.
A private kindergarten is a direct conversation with one school. At Fantasy Island, you visit, meet the teachers, see the classroom, and enroll with us. Before the school year starts, you already know who will teach your child, what the day looks like, and what your tuition covers. For many parents, that certainty is the reason to choose a private kindergarten.
That is the complaint many parents carry with them when they start looking for something different. Small class sizes are a deliberate choice at Fantasy Island, and they are what make individualized attention possible in a private kindergarten.
With a small group, a teacher can tell when your child has mastered counting and needs a harder challenge, or when a quiet child has barely spoken all morning. Every teacher holds an Early Childhood Education certification. Kindergarten follows our gifted, experiential curriculum in literacy, math, science, social studies, and art, taught in English with the goal of preparing your child for American schools.
Tuition rates rarely tell the whole story, so here is the whole story. Tuition is approximately $300 to $400 per week, depending on the program and schedule you choose.
That covers far more than the classroom. Three nutritious, locally sourced meals cooked on-site every day, weekly music classes with a qualified music teacher, Brain Gym sessions twice a week led by our founder, and the Gifted Enrichment Program are all included. You are not adding a packed lunch, a music class fee, or an enrichment charge on top. When you compare private kindergarten options, that full list is the number to hold up against the weekly rate.
Choosing a kindergarten means trusting people you have just met with the most precious person in your life. Fantasy Island is an Illinois state-licensed day care center, license number 483511, founded in 2009 by Beata Bielic.
All staff are First Aid and CPR certified and complete training in child development, health and safety, trauma-informed care, and asthma management. Families rate us 4.8 stars on Google, and 100 percent of reviewers on Facebook recommend us. One parent summed up the feeling in a review: I trust these people completely. That is the standard a private kindergarten should earn from you.
Enrollment is directly with the school. You can start with a tour or a consultation call, so you can see the classroom, meet the teachers, and ask your questions. When you are ready, you can sign up online to secure your child’s spot. Because enrollment is with us, you know your child’s place before the school year begins.

No. The school is at 6100 N Milwaukee Ave in the Norwood Park area, and we serve families from Edison Park, Jefferson Park, Gladstone Park, Sauganash, Edgebrook, and Portage Park in Chicago, as well as Niles, Park Ridge, Skokie, Harwood Heights, Norridge, and Des Plaines. Wherever you live in that area, the process and the program are the same.
Our kindergarten is for children ages 5 to 6. Public school systems set their own kindergarten age rules and dates, so if you are also considering CPS or a suburban district, check that system’s official website for the current requirements. If your child is not quite ready for kindergarten, our preschool program serves ages 3 to 4.
