Edgebrook parents looking for daycare, preschool, or kindergarten will find Fantasy Island Schools for Kids just southwest of the neighborhood at 6100 N Milwaukee Ave. We are an English-language program for children ages 2 to 6, with a gifted curriculum, small classes, three meals cooked on-site every day, and Polish and Ukrainian language support. Families have trusted us since 2009.
A Program as Grounded as Edgebrook
Edgebrook, part of Chicago’s Forest Glen community area, is defined by green space – the Cook County Forest Preserves wrap around Old Edgebrook, the Edgebrook Golf Course sits nearby, and the small business district along Devon Avenue gives the neighborhood a village feel. Many parents commute downtown from the Edgebrook Metra station on the Milwaukee District North Line.
Families here tend to value calm routines, time outdoors, and strong academics. Our day reflects that: structured learning in the morning, active play outside, and enrichment in the afternoon, all between 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
Daycare (Ages 2-3)
Our daycare welcomes two- and three-year-olds into a small, nurturing classroom where routines are predictable and teachers are patient. Play-based learning – stories, songs, sensory play, building – grows language and independence, while three home-cooked meals keep little ones well fed. Families can choose full-time or part-time care.
Preschool (Ages 3-4)
In preschool, Edgebrook three- and four-year-olds move from play to purposeful learning. Our gifted curriculum introduces letters, sounds, counting, patterns, simple science, and art through hands-on projects, while weekly music and twice-weekly Brain Gym sessions round out each week.
Kindergarten (Ages 5-6)
Our kindergarten prepares Edgebrook children to continue confidently in American schools – whether at a neighborhood CPS school or in a selective or gifted program reached through GoCPS. Reading, math, focus, and independence are the priorities, and an overwhelming majority of our graduates are accepted into gifted programs.
Why Edgebrook Parents Choose Us
Here is what families from Edgebrook tell us made the difference.
Polish & Ukrainian Language Support
Children learn in English, which prepares them to continue their education in American schools. Families who speak Polish or Ukrainian at home will find support too: most of our teachers speak Polish, a structured Polish class takes place every Friday, and Ukrainian-speaking teachers lead activities in Ukrainian.
Academics That Open Doors
Children explore ideas through hands-on projects, group work, and multi-sensory lessons designed to challenge curious minds – and an overwhelming majority of our graduates go on to gifted programs.
Meals Included in Tuition
Healthy eating is part of learning here. Three freshly cooked, locally sourced meals are served daily and included in tuition.
Room to Be Seen
With small class sizes, every child gets individual attention from ECE-certified teachers, supported by staff who are First Aid and CPR certified.
